Mr. Busman

The song "Mr. Busman", is one of the best songs you can find about the Bus Ministry.
It is a true story of the life of Thomas Thomas, the writer of the song. This song has encouraged many churches to continue their bus ministries and reach out to the children of their communities. One pastor had been praying about starting a bus ministry at his church. He was from Pennsylvania, but he heard us at a church in Virginia. That night we sang, 'Mr. Busman'. The pastor shared with us that he felt it was the answer to his prayer. He was sure that God was urging him to start the bus ministry. He went back to his church in Pennsylvania, a few months later we were invited to come and sing. The church had already bought a van, were using it to carry eight children to church every Sunday, and had won a new family to Christ through the outreach of their new ministry. It's inspiring to see the fruit of a ministry is so evident.

Getting Workers How-to

First I would I have to say is to pray openly during service about needing workers, then once a month have an invitation for anybody who wants to work
in the bus ministry to come forward. There seems too many people who wants to work in the church AND too many churches who needs workers.
Why this exist I suspect is because of non-communications.It also seems that once people gets their feet wet in it they will not want to stop doing it.
It's not work, it's enjoyable, it's the most fun you will have in your entire life! If it becomes work then something is wrong!

If you plan on running a Bus Ministry then your Sunday Schools should reflect the needs of what is involved in dealing with non-Christians.
Subjects on
Judges, Numbers, Ruth, etc are pointless to a non-Christian

Judges, Numbers, Ruth, etc are pointless for all the comments Christians face today when speaking with non-Christians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have open dialogues about "what real Christian life has been like during the week".
The first key in any war is to know your enemy, how can you as a pastor know if your enemy during the week is messing with your sheep unless you listen to them!

REMEMBER THE KEY IS THE
GOSPEL!

  1. Be sure to wear a Baptist T-Shirt that says what church you are from,
    that way people won't think you're a     Jehovah's Witnesses     .

  2. Be sure to bring some doggie treats and wear tennis shoes for running.

we started a bus ministry through the power of God and His leading. We got up to 44. The number drops at times, but you must perservere and stay with it. We have had a man and woman who was living together to get married and dedicate their lives to the Lord and now the whole family comes and are so excited. We had a family that used to come and quit to re-start and re-dedicate their lives to the Lord. Be encouraged and pray. God will work for you, too. The scripture we use is:Luke 14:23. "...Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." Look up the word "compel". God Bless!

My brother-in law told me you sell hymnals. Is this information correct? If so, I am looking for a Baptist Hymnal that is totally KJV. My church is in the final stages of completing our new building & we need new hymnals. Thank you for any assistance.

God has lain a mission on my heart to start a bus ministry. I have no idea how to start it or what to do. All I have is the passion and desire to do God's will. It is not the type of ministry where you go pick people up for church in a bus, It's the kind where you go on a bus for 6-7 years and get involved in the communities you visit and lead people to Christ. I pastor in the state of Florida and would like to know of anyone with a clue to check for insurance with. 20 years ago I was saved as direct result of someone knocking my door on bus visitation. I want our church to run a bus!

The Lord has allowed me to be the bus ministry for over 20+ years and I have never regreted it and have been blessed to see the mighty hand of God working in the lives of many of the riders. Over two years ago the Lord led me to start a web site devoted to our bus route and the many trials and blessings we face.

Presently, we have a 15 passsenger Van that we use for all sorts of transportation; but just last Sunday we have been asked to pickup a Family 60 miles roundtrip from the church. Can anyone help us in knowing what criteria or guidelines we should establish in starting a Bus Ministry or Van Ministry? Here are the questions that I need answers to: How does a small Van ministry work? What procedures have already been established that can assist us to set up guidelines for our Van? In accepting rides, do we need to have a limit as to how far to pick up? Do we need to prearrange or reserve the people that we pick up? Thanks!
